Emergency Fund

With your support, we can reduce the impact of the current crisis on student and staff welfare and continue to sustain the College’s academic mission long into the future.

Every donation matters.

The primary purposes of the fund will be:

1. Assist students during the pandemic.

This means ensuring that all students have the provisions they need while at home, while providing hardship grants to meet unexpected financial challenges. Already, this has included help with unforeseen travel costs and sudden reductions in family support associated with the emergency. In the coming months, we will assist students facing challenges with remote learning, including access to suitable network connections (mobile and wifi), and the provision of appropriate laptops and equipment. Of course, many students and their families are in position to address these issues, but some are not. It is just as important now, if not more so, that Clare ensures no student is left behind because of their financial background.

2. Help Clare retain and support its staff.

Many of our staff members are now on furlough, however the College is still paying 100% of their usual wage - and hopes to continue doing so- rather than the 80% guaranteed by the government. This includes supporting casual staff who may be most vulnerable to financial instability. Our porters, gardeners, bedders and caterers have always been there for us; now we must be there for them.

If you decide to make a donation to support the Clare Emergency Fund, you will help the College get through this unprecedented crisis with as little negative impact as possible. Every donation matters!
