1970 Year Group 50th Anniversary Dinner  

We have great pleasure in extending an invitation to you from the Master and Fellows to the 1970 Reunion Dinner to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of your matriculation at Clare. You are most welcome to bring a guest. 

The event will be held in College (Lerner Court) on Saturday 2nd October 2021, with pre-dinner drinks in the Elton Bowring Room from 6.30 pm, and dinner in the Garden Room at 7.30 pm. The dress code is lounge suits (or equivalent for women).  

Places at the dinner are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. To book your place at the dinner, please complete the booking form below. To book in your guest please use the sections of the form titled with #2.

As this is a celebration of such a special occasion, a number of activities have also been arranged around the dinner.   

You are warmly invited to tea and coffee at 3:30 pm and a talk on Saturday 2nd October by Dr William Foster, Fellow and Alumni Secretary. Dr Foster’s talk, entitled Clare College from 1970 to Present Day, will commence at 4.00 pm in the Riley Auditorium. If you would like to attend the talk please indicate this on the booking form. 

If you are planning to stay in Cambridge, you are warmly invited to attend a Service in Chapel at 9:30 am on Sunday 3rd October 2021. If you have any specific requests for the Service, such as remembering members of the Year Group who are no longer with us, please contact Rod Croucher directly at: rod.croucher@virgin.netIf you would like to attend the Service, please indicate this on the booking form. 

Clare Boat Club is pleased to invite those attending the dinner to visit Clare Boathouse on Sunday 3rd October 2021 at 11:00 am. You then have the option of joining a one-hour cruise along the River Cam on the ‘Rosie’ riverboat leaving at 11:30 am (limited to 12 people; this will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis) or of rowing in a four or an eight! Please indicate your preference when registering. 

We are also looking for a volunteer to read the College Grace before dinner, so please do let Rod Croucher know if you would like to take this opportunity!  

Unfortunately, we will be unable to offer accommodation on this occasion within College, but have reserved accommodation at the Moller Institute (Churchill College) for the night of Saturday 2nd October 2021. Single occupancy rooms are charged at £85.00 + VAT and twin occupancy rooms are charged at £110.00 + VAT (both are inclusive of breakfast). If you would like to book accommodation, please book directly with the Moller Institute on the following website using the reference KX44954: Moller Institute. Please note that there are a limited amount of bedrooms reserved, and will be booked on a first-come first-served basis. Please book your room by Saturday 4th September 2021 to avoid disappointment, as after this date any unallocated rooms will be released.

We are also compiling a reunion booklet for your Year Group, to be handed out on the evening and sent to all those from your year who cannot attend. If you would like to be included, please submit your short biography, no longer than 350 words, via email to events@clare.cam.ac.uk before 2nd September 2021.
