Alumnus of the Year 2010: John Thompson (1959)

The winner of the 2010 Alumnus of the Year Award is John Thompson (1959), in recognition of his work in the township of Masiphumelele near Cape Town. John and his wife Carol visited the College to speak about their work and collect the award on 27 April 2010. 

From building one house to hundreds, providing children in creshes with sanitation and getting fully involved in improving the teaching system to helping out with every aspect of the township, John's pragmaticism makes what is a huge endeavour, a life's work, sound straightforward. His speech is both inspiring and full of humour.
