Family & Friends Programme
The Family & Friends Programme provides a link between parents, families and friends of current undergraduates of Clare College, and gives parents the opportunity to feel that they are involved in their children's education and in the life of the College in general.
Because we know that students aren’t always very good at telling their parents what they’ve been up to, we’ll do our best to give you a taste of what’s happening in College. When you sign up for the Family & Friends scheme, you will receive a termly e-newsletter to keep you up to date with College News, event highlights and much, much more. You will also receive our annual magazine, Clare News and the Clare College Annual Report.
In February, we invite signed-up members of Family & Friends (of first year undergraduates) to attend a special dinner. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience a formal dinner in College and to meet other parents of first year undergraduates. Before the dinner there will also be a choral evensong and a short talk.
Family members are also very welcome to attend our annual Gala Day in June. Look out for updates in the events section of our website!
Love From Home
Everybody loves cake, so we’ve teamed up with Fitzbillies so that you can order a selection of delicious treats for your student! You can also buy a voucher which can be used in the Fitzbillies bakery, café or restaurant.
For further details please download an order form or contact the development office on 01223 333 218.
The Parents’ Fund is a way for families and friends to give tangible support to current students. Gifts to the annual Parents’ Fund, support projects of direct benefit to current students; projects are decided upon by a committee of students and Fellows, chaired by the Senior Tutor.
Family Book Fund
The Clare College Family Book Fund provides families of undergraduates with a way to help current students by donating funds for the College Library to invest in much needed resources and to help the Library maintain a plentiful supply of key texts.
Discussions with all our students, including attendance, assessments and personal issues, are however treated in the utmost confidence and no matters are disclosed to third parties, including parents.
If you would like to donate to this fund you can support a specific subject area or you can leave it to the discretion of the Librarian. Books purchased through the Family Book Fund are marked with a special bookplate. Your support will also be noted in the annual list of donors and displayed in the Forbes Mellon Library, unless you request that your donation be anonymous.
For a minimum donation of £20.00, the College Library will purchase a book for undergraduate use, marked by a special bookplate. To download a Family Book Fund leaflet, please click here.
