Alumni and music-lovers in London will have an opportunity later this month to hear Clare Choir sing evensong in one of the country’s most famous venues. The Choir has been invited to sing at Westminster Abbey, where Nicholas Sagovsky, Dean of Clare 1986–97, is a Canon.
The service music on 16 March will include William Byrd’s Lenten motet Emendemus in melius.
This will be one of the last opportunities to hear the Choir sing evensong outside Cambridge under Tim Brown’s direction before his retirement as Director of Music later this summer.
Evensong at Westminster Abbey with the Choir of Clare College Cambridge is on Tuesday 16 March, starting at 5pm.
