The
Alumnus of the Year Award recognises and celebrates the contributions
that Clare alumni make to wider society, for example by
- engaging in significant charitable work or philanthropy
- extraordinary community involvement
- praiseworthy heroism
- overcoming personal hardship
The Award is conferred by the Alumni Council, and signifies the College’s pride in its alumni and its commitment to alumni relations.
The Award is also intended to serve as an inspiration to current Clare students. Any Clare alumnus can be nominated for the award. An 'alumnus' is defined as a member of the College who has matriculated as an undergraduate or graduate student and who is no longer in residence.
The winner of the Award
receives a bronze sculpture which has been specially created by Clare
alumna, Angie Harlock Wilkinson (1974).
The Award is presented each year at the
Half-Way Hall for second-year undergraduates, at which the winner makes
the key-note address.
