Hollywood stardom for novel by Clare alumna

Sarah Jessica Parker, Allison Pearson, Pierce Brosnan

Allison Pearson (1978) has long been recognised as a star in the fields of journalism and literature and has won multiple awards during her career. She is most widely known as the author of the international bestseller I Don't Know How She Does It – a novel that has now propelled her into the film world and the company of movie stars.

I Don’t Know How She Does It is currently making the transition from the page to the silver screen and is expected to be released in late 2011 or early 2012. The film will star Sarah Jessica Parker as a busy working mother juggling her career, private life and two children, with Pierce Brosnan playing her love interest. The cast also includes Kelsey Grammer, Christina Hendricks, Olivia Munn and Seth Meyers.

Allison studied English at Clare College and still lives in Cambridge. She wrote I Don’t Know How She Does It in 2002 and based the book on her own experiences as a working mother of two, after writing a newspaper column about the exasperation felt by working women with families.

She commented: "It's incredibly exciting that some characters you created in a small back bedroom are going to be played by these great movie stars.”
